Lianne La Havas continues to secure a succession of major achievements following the #2 chart position for her critically acclaimed second album ‘Blood’. She’s in contention for two of the major awards at this week’s MOBO Awards (Best Album for ‘Blood’ and BestFemaleAct – she was also nominated for Best R&B / Soul Act which was awarded to Shakka at the first-ever MOBO Pre-Award Show), while her first Brixton O2 Academy show is already sold-out almost two months in advance.

 

Today brings the confirmation that Lianne will play an Albert Sessions show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 14th. The Albert Sessions aim to encourage up-and-coming acts to play the Hall, while attracting younger audiences through lower ticket prices. As part of the project, the headline acts also host music workshops for young people from schools across London, in partnership with the Hall’s Education & Outreach department. Previous headliners have included Jake Bugg, Foals, First Aid Kit, NicolaBenedetti and Alison Balsom.

 

Tickets go on sale from 9am on Friday November 6th and will be available from www.liannelahavas.com.

 

Her domestic success is also building up to be repeated in the States. Last week she made a show-stopping performance in front of a huge audience on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and she recently played her largest North American show to date in front of 2500 people at New York City’s Terminal 5.Billboard’s review concluded that the show was “a treat for true La Havas fans and newcomers alike, a spectacle with incomparable energy.”

 

Her Stateside profile was further boosted when she was featured in President Barack Obama’s summer Spotify playlist.

 

Lianne is continuing the ‘Blood’ campaign with a new video for the key track ‘Green & Gold’. Written and produced with Jamie Lidell. ‘Green & Gold’ is the centrepiece of an album that’s themed around Lianne’s Jamaican and Greek family heritage. It weaves imagery from both nations into an autobiographical narrative which offers an insight into the weird and wonderful journey that Lianne has been on since she was a child. ‘Green & Gold’ has already received over 1.5 million plays at Spotify alone.

 

This summer has saw Lianne triumph at festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Gentlemen of the Road, Latitude and Secret Garden Party. Her UK and Ireland headline tour calls at the following venues:

 

Lianne La Havas made a huge breakthrough with her Top 5 debut album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ which sold 200,000 copies and won Album of the Year at iTunes as well as Barclaycard MercuryPrize and Ivor Novello Best Album nominations.
